OOTD: His and Hers - Green Duds and Fancy Wheels

These photos were something of a spur of the moment type happy accident.  It was the first really warm and sunny day this year, and Ephraim and I spent the afternoon running errands in St. Kitts, with the plan of finishing up with going to see the new Evil Dead movie.  But wouldn't you know it, we ran out of things to do a good hour before the movie started, and so we hunted for a coffee shop to wait in.  In our search we ended up trying to turn around in this parking lot, and found this SUPER SWEET old car!! And well, when you come across a beaut like that, no matter how windy it is (and oh, was it ever!!) you take some photos! So here we are showing off how much green the two of us can wear.  This was unplanned, but dammit, neither of us was changing, that might be dumber than coordinating our clothes to begin with!
I can tell it's going to take some getting used to and maybe a bit of problem solving to deal with just how incredibly crazy the wind makes my hair now that it's so much shorter.  It looks like I'm going to need to invest in a few more hats! Which is a solution I can really get behind :).
The skirt I'm wearing came from my grandmother.  At first I wasn't so sure about the skirt, as the style of pleating and the (albeit faux) front buttoned flap is very 1910's; which, when it's a time period you typically work in, can get a little too costumey for my taste.  Digging through my closet to find something to pair it with, I realized this 1960's top matches the colour perfectly, and happens to be just long enough to tuck into a high waisted skirt! it really was meant to be, I think!  And wouldn't you know it, the folks at work quite liked how Shavian I look in this outfit.

  1. Ok. This outfit is a perfect match for the car. I'm going to say that you planned the whole thing.

    1. I wish I could be guilty of having planned this. Sadly, most of my outfit posts are rather impromptu, and photographed within a KM of my house. Well, this was a bit further away, but still. Gotta love some happenstance.

  2. Firstly, I love how you were just a little bit cheeky and cavalier about it with the photography. I would have been scared some posh guy would come round the corner and tell you to get off his car. It is beautiful though. I love vintage cars so much. I have always dreamed of ownining something like that. You both look very glamorous in front of it!

My favourite bit of the oufit is your tiny russian doll collar pin. So cute!

    1. HAHA oh man that's hilarious!! We were safe from the angry wealthy, though, the car was just a display in front of a spa, which is why it's up on the sidewalk. I'm also such a big vintage car fan, and where I live is SO good for classic car shows. Lots of wealthy folk with nothing else to spend their money on, I guess!

  3. I LOVE that I know EXACTLY where you took these photos! Why haven't we met in real life? You are the cutest with your short red hair, I can't even stand it. Headscarves and hats will be your new best friend, trust me, I have an inch of hair on my head and I never leave home without one or the other. Oh, and you're skirt is just fucking DARLING.

    1. I KNOW RIGHT? So close, and yet so far. I'm going to be teaching a set design workshop at a high school in Welland next month! I hear your Goodwill is amazing. I'm hoping the workshop ends up being on a Friday, so I can stop in afterward and have a gander :D

    1. I'm so happy that my Bubba held on to so many great pieces and that I'm so close to being her size! Some things need a bit of altering, but it's worth it for the history behind the clothes :).
Hehe I'm still getting a handle on how to style my shorter 'do, but it's coming along!

    1. Isn't the car AMAZING? I'm lucky to live in an area with a lot of classic car enthusiasts, and we have a couple car shows every summer. I can't wait!

  8. I don't think that car could possibly be any more of a perfect backdrop for your outfit. Must have been fate. Also, I love the skirt, and love it even more that it was your grandmother's.

    1. The man is always down! I do love it about him. We have fun. Funny thing is, my grandmother totally asked him if he ever considered modeling, a couple weeks before we took these photos. I was kinda teasing him for it (only half heartedly, that is one helluva compliment!)
