OOTD: Plaid Fleece and Denim

Sometimes (okay, most of the time) when it's cold, snowy, and generally blah out, you just want to be comfy and warm.  Now, since we can't go about our daily business wrapped in a quilt, or dare I say it, go to the office in a snuggy, we have to have classier ways to keep warm on those colder days.  This plaid shirt-dress is one of those solutions for me.  It's made of a light fleece, has long sleeves, and even has pockets to keep my lip balm handy.  Score, am I right?! Throw on a belt to cinch in the waist, and you're in business.
THE DEETS
Plaid Shirtdress: Winners
Denim Jacket: Charlotte Russe
Belt: Urban Outfitters (remixed here and here)
Leggings: Filene's Basement
Boots: Shellys (remixed here)
Branch Brooch: Old Weston

Paired with a cropped denim jacket and my favourite black boots, I keep nice and toasty and don't look so bad, either! And that right there is a sure fix for those winter blahs.

As a fun bonus, here's a shot of the handsome photographer, and the stupid face I kept making during this shoot to crack us both up, and also because I was cold.  I don't know why he continues to date me.  Guess I'm just lucky.

  1. You look just loverly!! I think I might have to steal one of my hubby's button-downs for a look like this! That belt is fantastic too- I used to have a lot of belts like that but I've lost them all over the years! >_< Guess i need to be on the lookout for new ones.

    1. I keep thinking how easy it would be to make belts like this!! Plastic closure (or plastic figures glued overtop of closures) plus big elastic band = very yes.

    1. Why thank you, darlin'! I promise an even sillier face posted next week. It's the best by product of winter time outfit posts. I am not good at an "I'm cold" poker face.

    1. Now would you prefer a polo collar front, a collar and bow tie, or sewn-in scarf detail?
Khaki bottom alright? Well, khaki coloured fleece...

    2. Perhaps a collar with a lady tie and some buttons. Khaki colored fleece would do. Or black... Khaki is not a real color!

    1. You boss is cooler than my boss.
Also I am imagining a snuggy as covered in wood/plastic dust as my apron, and it's gross. But I'm cold :(

  8. Very cute! I love your subtle branch pin- I think brooches are the bees knees. I wish I could get more use out of my long sleeve and/or wool vintage dresses. Even poly is a stretch here in AZ but I refuse to get rid of them... I can't get enough of snow pics- it just makes for the prettiest of photos!

  10. I love this outfit! Especially the brooch and the belt. The belt is just gorgeous and I am all about accessorizing with brooches. Yay for outfits that are both cute and comfortable and have pockets!

Also, saying branch brooch over and over is pretty fun.

    1. I picked them up at Leone in Niagara-on-the-Lake, but they're by Shellys Shoes. I can't seem to find them on their website, but they came in caramel, black and red (I was DYING for the red, but they sold out!), and they've got to be kicking around stores somewhere!

  19. i hope you have children some day... they will be ridiculously gorgeous. and be great at silly faces. now anyway, i really dont know how you people over there in cold places do actually leave the house not wrapped up in quilts. but then i remember our trip to seattle and it was freakin' roasting inside a lot of places... insane. well, phx does that w/ AC in the summer. it's the dumbest thing ever... typical southwestern US suburbia you know. anyway, i'm digging the plaid dress w/ the combat boots here!
